Systems Administrator

The Niagara International Transportation Technology Coalition (NITTEC) is seeking a Systems Administrator to join our staff in the evolving regional Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and Traffic Operation Center (TOC). NITTEC is a coalition of transportation agencies and stakeholders in Western New York and Southern Ontario whose role is to coordinate, operate and maintain transportation information systems.


This government position is responsible for installing, upgrading, maintaining and repairing various network and computer systems that connect to ITS field equipment such as Closed-Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV), Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) and Portable Variable Message Signs (PVMS) for regional ITS initiatives.


This includes assisting NITTEC staff with managing the internal network, installing, configuring, troubleshooting and upgrading various hardware and software. Set up accounts and workstations, managing data backup, recovery and archiving. Maintain essentials such as operating systems, business applications, security tools, web servers, email, workstations local and wide area networking. Responsible for creating and maintaining various system documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).


The position requires working knowledge and familiarity with the installation, configuration and management of VMware 7.0 and greater, Veeam Backup and Replication, Windows OS Platforms, Windows Server Platforms, Microsoft Office 2016, Outlook 365, Symantec Endpoint Protection products and HP Office Printer/Scanners. A basic understanding of Cybersecurity Framework and communications at the Transport Layer of the NTCIP Framework to include but not limited to TCP, IP and UDP. Desired experience with asset monitoring software, trouble ticketing systems, Linux Administration, CCTV Video Management Software, Cisco/Meraki networking equipment, Cisco Unified Communications Management and network cabling standards. CompTIA Certifications with A+, Network+ and Security+ would be desirable for the position.


Position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, project management experience, and ability to communicate effectively and command the respect of professional and technical people from various organizations. Ability to function independently with little or no supervision.


Task involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds) with the occasional need to lift heavier equipment and materials with or without assistance as required.


Requires a minimum of a 2-year college degree. Work experience should include on-the-job experience and a minimum of four years of experience as a Systems Administrator or Network Administrator.

The salary range is $64,594 to $91,932. Final salary will be determined based on experience and qualifications of the individual selected.
